With 4:20 right around the corner, we figured it would be an appropriate time to pay tribute to the roots of cannabis baking. Enter weed brownies. Cannabis infused baking is a staple, and nothing brings back the good memories like ‘special’ brownies. If you’re wanting a double hit of cannabis-infused goodness, you can ice your brownie with some lovely infused cream cheese.
A word of caution, while brownies (especially iced brownies) are delicious, we highly recommend hiding these sweet treats or you may end up snacking on the very brownies that made you snacky, which can lead to a bunch of bad times.

How to make special brownies:
Step one: prepare
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Step two: melt the chocolate
When choosing your chocolate you can choose any high-quality chocolate you would like. Break the chocolate into halves. Melt half of the chocolate until the consistency is smooth, remove from heat and allow to cool.
Never worked with chocolate?
Place chocolate chunks in the top of a double boiler or a metal mixing bowl set over, not in a saucepan of simmering water stirring occasionally until melted, this will usually take 2 to 3 minutes.
*Save the other half cup of chocolate chunks for later (step four).
Step three: Beat the eggs
Beating the eggs adds air into your brownie mixture for a lighter, fluffier texture.
Step four: Combine
Combine your cannabis butter or oil (melted), beaten egg, vanilla, and sugar, mixing until all ingredients are well combined.
Step five: Add chocolate
Once the melted chocolate has cooled enough, whisk in the melted chocolate with the vanilla, egg, cannabis butter/oil and sugar mixture. It’s important to let the chocolate cool enough so it does not cook the eggs!
Step six: Combine dry ingredients
Combine flour, cocoa powder, salt, and the remaining chocolate chunks. Make sure you combine the dry ingredients well, we want to make sure that all of the ingredients are mixed in evenly.
Step seven: Fold
Fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients using a spatula. FOLD means lightly integrating the wet and dry ingredients. Lightly is key - if you over mix, your brownies are going to be very heavy and dense.
Step eight: bake
Pour into baking dish and bake for roughly 20-25 minutes or until you are able to insert a toothpick into the middle of the pan and it comes out clean.
All done! Your brownies are ready for you to enjoy as is. For an added touch, you can ice them. Not hungry now? Freeze them for later.
With 4:20 almost here, brownies are the perfect classic edible to share with your friends, just make sure to tell them they’re “special brownies”, secretly drugging people isn’t cool. Take a picture and let us know what your 4:20 plans are on our social channels!
